About Pick-a-Pol
Learn about the idea behind the political statement matcher.
🎯 What is Pick-a-Pol?
Pick-a-Pol is an educational quiz that challenges you to connect real public statements with the politicians who made them.
🧩 What's on this site
Statement Matcher — the drag-and-drop game on this site: match real, sourced quotes to the politician who said them. It plays with statements from your own state wherever we have them.
Find your politicians — enter your address on the home page to see the candidates on your ballot, in any of the 50 states, DC or the territories. Prefer not to share your full address? Just your ZIP code works too.
Pick-a-Pol (full app) — a separate, deeper tool that matches your own policy views to the candidates on your ballot.
💡 Our Goal
The site is designed to make learning about public figures, policy positions, and political records more engaging, objective, and accessible.
📚 About the data
Candidate rosters cover all 50 states, DC and the territories, and come from the FEC candidate master file plus state filing records.
Statements are held to a higher bar: every one is a verbatim quote from an official, verifiable source (press releases, government records, news coverage), checked against that source before it appears. That means statement coverage grows state by state as sources are collected and checked — we don't fabricate quotes for politicians or states we haven't sourced yet. Where your state has no statements, the game falls back to a national mix and labels each politician's state. See Methodology & Sourcing for the full verification process.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Is Pick-a-Pol affiliated with any candidate, party, or campaign?
No. We aren't affiliated with, and don't accept anything from, any candidate, party, or campaign. Statements are shown with their source link and no editorial commentary.
Why don't I see any statements for my state yet?
Statement coverage is added state by state as sources are collected and verified — see Methodology & Sourcing. Until your state has its own statements, the game shows a national mix and labels each politician's state so it's never presented as local.
Does the site store my address?
No. Address and ZIP lookups happen in your browser or through the free US Census geocoder, and the result is saved only in your browser's local storage — never on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
I think a statement is wrong or out of date — how do I report it?
Email contact@gssolving.com with a link to the statement and we'll check it against the source.
